Diversity and Awareness Days Calendar

With more and more diversity and awareness raising days, weeks and months being added to the calendar each year, we’ve listed some of the key dates for your consideration. Supporting and raising awareness of initiatives like those listed is a positive way to demonstrate your authentic and visible support of diversity, inclusion, health and wellbeing, your employees and customers and beyond. They’re also great opportunities to engage your staff network group members, raise awareness of your networks and organisations support of the days, share real stories and role model features, collaborate with local charities and community groups, signpost to support networks and beyond.

NATIONAL EPILEPSY WEEK

14TH – 20TH MAY 2018
A week to tell as many people as possible about epilepsy and to help improve the lives of everyone affected by the condition.

The week aims to reach people who were worried about dementia and encourage them to confront their concerns and access the support and help they need.

ANTI BULLYING WEEK

12TH – 16TH NOVEMBER 2018
The theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week is to choose respect over bullying. The Anti-Bullying Alliance, with the continued support of SafeToNet, will be developing a set of free cross-curricular teaching resources to support both primary and secondary schools to embrace the theme of respect.

About The Author

Thomas Anderson

Founder and MD of Inclusive Networks. Thomas was Chair of the award winning LGBT network for The Co-operative Group, ‘Respect’ (2011-14). Thomas named the network and designed and managed all of the branding, communications and engagement until he stepped down from the role of Chair in March 2014. He also created the branding, name, was Editor of the quarterly magazine and developed the launch of the UK’s first Inter-Retail LGBT network ‘CheckOUT’. He contributed to the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 5 Year review. In recognition of his work in the diversity field he was shortlisted for ‘Diversity Champion of the Year’ at the 2013 European Diversity Awards, shortlisted for ‘Role Model of the Year’ at the 2012 Lesbian & Gay Foundation Homo Heroes Awards and shortlisted for the ‘Positive Action’ award at the 2013 Asian Fire Service Association Fair & Diverse Awards. He also won the 2012 ‘Pride of The Co-operative’ award. He was a judge for Scotland's biggest diversity awards, The Icon Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
