Congratulations to Claire Cahill, Children’s Service Manager at charity Action for Children, who has been re-elected as Chair of their inclusive lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) employee network group ‘Celebrate LGBT+‘.

The network is one of our Awesome Networks and was the joint winner of the ‘New Network of the Year’ award at our inaugural Inclusive Networks Awards. We love what the network does and Claire has been a ball of enthusiasm who has contributed massively to the success of the network to date. She’s a great role model and ambassador for the charity.

Speaking to Inclusive Networks, Claire said :

“I am thrilled to have been re-elected as I love being a part of Celebrate. We have achieved so much over the two years since we launched, however there is still much to do. Working in an ever changing environment with the challenges we are currently facing both within the third sector and the world itself means we need to continue to support the LGBT+ staff and volunteers we work with. Facing the certainty of uncertainty and change, we need to continue to grow our support as an organisation allowing LGBT+ employees to flourish and grow.”

Launched in October 2014, membership of the Celebrate LGBT+ network is open to all staff and volunteers. They’re one of the most active employee network groups on Twitter with 1,300+ followers. The network does a fantastic job of highlighting key diversity days to their members and beyond – producing lots of useful resources that are shared. Members of the network receive informative bi-monthly newsletters, regular equality updates, invitations to training and social events, networking opportunities, confidential support from the network and most importantly, a space to be themselves. The network also hosts and co-hosts lots of awesome events, where everyone is welcome.
