Edinburgh’s LGBT+ friendly venues
Edinburgh may be the UK’s greenest city, but it’s got it’s fair share of venues proudly flying other colours of the rainbow flag too. Most of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) venues are located in what’s known as the Pink Triangle by The Playhouse and Glasshouse hotel. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed and casual lunch or catch up with friends, after-work drinks or a more lively night out under the disco lights, there’s something for everyone.
Outside of the Pink Triangle, Edinburgh has many venues that are known as being LGBT+ friendly and many more around the city that offer great places to relax, party and have a great time – and delicious food and drinks. To celebrate Pride Edinburgh we put the spotlight on some of the LGBT+ scene and inclusive venues – and a bit of what they have planned to celebrate Pride Edinburgh on 16th June 2018. We hope everyone has a safe and happy pride!

This year for the first time ever The Street, a fantastic community focussed venue, will be having two floors of completely different entertainment and DJs from 3pm until 3am.
In their basement nightclub, a.k.a The Street Nightclub, they welcome back Scotlands answer to Horse Meat Disco, the awesome Yogi Haughton and David Elders with PRIDE – a deeper MFSB love! They rocked last year and are back to do it all over again with very special guest DJ Joey Musaphia – renowned for his house remixes.
At 11pm they’ll have DJ Trendy Wendy in charge of tunes for a while until she’s joined by Eva Crystaltips and Mairi Pots ‘n’Pans percussion for the full Titty Titty Bang Bang experience!
Ground level tunes will be hosted by new team ‘Scotch Bonnet does Edinburgh Pride’ bringing you R’n’B jams from 6pm. They’ll also have Jordy Deelight and James Longworth cheesing it up for a change.

We love this little pub that is a nice 15 minute stroll from the Pink Triangle – or a few minutes on the bus (the No35 passes by the door). This award-winning pub has a relaxed atmosphere and has a real local and community feel – playing host to many local LGBT+ community groups and friendly get-togethers. It’s a great place to stop by if you want a break from the loud music – there’s no dancefloor. The pub grub is worth checking out too – delicious and wallet-friendly. The Pride flag flies proudly outside the pub and the staff are very friendly. Check it out!

One of our favourite venues, CC Blooms will be throwing a huge all day all night ‘Colours Hootenanny’ for Pride Edinburgh. Whatever pride flag you identify with, show them your colours and get involved.
The day kicks off at CCs from 11am. Serving delicious and reasonably priced food (inc Chicken and Bacon Mayo sandwich, £6.50 and the BLOOM burger, £10.50), why not pop in for a quick bite before you head off to the march. The venue serves amazing cocktails too. It’s never too early for a cocktail!
The main party starts from 3pm post march with their resident DJs all taking a spot on the decks with party tunes by day and some serious clubbing by night. Residents #GUNNED, Belle, Bob and legend DJ Blondie play back to back through the day and into the evening.
They are proud to present international DJ Jon Pleased Wimmin with his monthly residency AUTOMATIC from 11pm on the ground floor. AUTOMATIC will be a Pride special with Vintage Pop, House and Disco. Hosted by Alice Rabbit.
In Lab nightclub (downstairs) from midnight, CCs resident Dejay Bird brings you a mix of chart and cheese music.

Planet Bar is Edinburgh’s longest running gay bar. The bar will be open from 9am on Saturday 16th June for the ‘Big Pride Breakfast’ – with all money raised being donated to Scotland’s first LGBT football team Hotscots Football Club. A mix of DJs, including friend of Inclusive Networks DJ Lucky, will be spinning awesome tunes from 1pm until 3am. Miss Ginger Rogers will be live on stage performing a hilarious comedy drag show that you won’t want to miss. Pride favourite Allan Jay will be taking to the stage at 11pm to belt out some of his songs too. The venue is renowned for its wallet-friendly drinks offers.

The bar is right next door to The Playhouse in the Pink Triangle. Spread across two floors, Habana serves a great selection of beer, wine, spirits and cocktails. The music is great too, expect well known classics and lots of cheese that always puts a smile on our face. We do love a bit of cheese…of the Steps variety!
Café Nom De Plume
60 Broughton Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3SA | Usual opening hours : 11am until 11pm Monday – Saturday and 12pm until 11pm on Sunday | Tel : 0131 478 1372
Just a short walk from the Pink Triangle, Café Nom De Plume is a relaxed and informal café serving homemade soups, snacks, main meals, cakes, coffees and teas. If you’re after something a bit stronger the venue also serves a selection of beers, wines and spirits. A lovely little place!
1a Market Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1DE | Usual opening hours : 8am – 11pm Monday – Tuesday, 8am – 12pm Wednesday – Thursday, 8am – 1am Friday – Saturday and 9am – 12am Sunday | 0131 226 9560
Located next to Waverley train station, this inclusive venue isn’t known as an LGBT+ bar but it’s definitely LGBT+ friendly. It’s a haven for those with a thirst for discovery, tank fresh beer, artisan coffee, fresh Scottish scran, cocktails and super fine wine. The venue will be proudly serving their Pride Coffee over the Pride Weekend. Their top Barista, Clare, has created this glittery beauty to celebrate Pride month. They’ll be donating 40p from every Pride Coffee sold to the Equality Network – Scotland’s leading LGBTI human rights charity. Awesome. They’ll be serving a special Pride cocktail over the weekend too, as well as the usual selection of marvellous cocktails, prosecco, beer and other drinks. Great allies!
