GLEE crowned top LGBT network

GLEE@PwC is the inclusive lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex network group for global professional services firm PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers). The network was very popular during the nomination period for our inaugural Inclusive Networks Awards and when the shortlist was announced in early September 2015 the network and PwC were represented in an impressive five categories. The awesome network was also the most represented network across all categories.

The network was well represented at the awards that took place on 19th November 2015 with members from around the UK attending. The network lived up to their name and there was smiles all round when they were named the winners of two of the awards on the night.

Winner – Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Network of the Year, sponsored by Manchester Pride

The network is open to everyone and focuses on creating a safe space for PwC’s LGBTI+ staff. They help everyone understand the power of difference in the workplace, engaging PwC staff who may not come to their events by inviting their clients, motivating them to come and learn, allowing GLEE to move the agenda forward. Their 2015 Annual People Survey of 18,000+ staff showed LGB staff are more engaged, more likely to recommend PwC as a place to work, and feel more able to be themselves than their heterosexual counterparts. The network offers a packed calendar of diverse events and they share these internally and beyond. Their Twitter account is one of the most followed employee network group accounts in the UK with an impressive 4,350+ followers – check them out at @GLEEPwCUK.

“We are proud of our network and pleased to be able to support our members, both internal and external to PwC, and to provide them with opportunities to develop themselves and to network with other like-minded people.”

Winner – Network Event of the Year, sponsored by Barefoot Wine

2015 saw the network host its first Big GLEE@PwC Day – a day of networking and awareness raising events. Using the #bigGLEEday hashtag, they were able to make sure the event reached further than just their offices in London. It was a sizeable event that included a breakfast hosted by The Network of Networks and was followed by an internal team building and strategy session. Their midday session was part of the Lunch with Leaders programme, informal lunchtime events where those internally can network in smaller relaxed environments and talk to LGBT leaders. The afternoon started off with the charities roadshow, where charities were invited to present to PwC employees about what they do and how people at PwC can help. An external networking event ended the inspiring day.
